Jon Richard (Ricky) Pownall

August 12, 1958 - March 10, 2011

Tribute Wall

I was shocked to hear that Jon had passed away last year. Our boys were great friends when they were little, and Jon and I were co-leaders of their cub scout den. I could always count on him to make the meetings fun for the boys. They especially loved his game "Mosquito"! It was Jon's influence that got me involved in scout leadership, and without that experience I probably wouldn't have felt qualified to lead up our American Heritage Girls troop. It's truly amazing what one person's influence can inspire! Thanks so much, Jon, for setting me on that path way back when. You were quite a guy!

Jon had an amazing spirit about him. My last time hanging out with him we danced. I am so sad to learn about his death. Godspeed Jon.

Fare thee well, Jon.

You were a great guy and we had some cool and fun times.

Jake, your dad was a very nice man and I have good memories of him.

JP you will be sorely missed. The boys are getting together to pay you tribute. We will share all of the times that you made us laugh, which were many.

Rest in Peace, my friend...'til we meet again.

Jon and I met at Seabreeze Park in Rochester NY, circa 1977. He was a ride operator; I was a ticket cashier. When he'd stroll over to my ticket booth, all tan, with that blond hair falling into those blue eyes, I'd melt. We started hanging out. He was bright and adventurous and funny. I enjoyed every minute I spent with him. He took me to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time. One time, he daringly drove over an embankment at Durand Park, and we landed upright on the beach, laughing hysterically. We enjoyed many crazy summer youthful times. Jon and I lost touch after I moved to California. We recently reconnected on Facebook. I am so sorry to hear of his death and I will always remember him fondly. My condolences to family.

How John will always be remembered

A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead.

May the many fond memories of your loved one provide you with peace and serenity at this time of loss.
