    Derrick Anthony Carter

    January 3, 1956 - October 25, 2011

    Mr. Derrick Anthony Carter was born January 3, 1956 to the late Jessie Mae (Carter) Mitchell and Carnell Mathis, his step-parents Theodore Stubby Mitchell (Irene) and Mattie Mathis. Derrick attended Evens County Public School and was employed at W. G. Shuckers. He was also a great part of many of Savannah's local and Hilton Head's finest musical bands such as The Special Edition and Domino Theory. After an extensive illness on October the 25th of 2011, Mr. Carter was called to rest. He leaves to cherish in memory a wife Wanda (Smith) Carter; three daughters, Shannon Carter, Tiffany Carter, Nynika Carter and one son, Orlando Durham; four Brothers, Larry Carter, Terry Steven, Carnell Mathis Jr. and Eric Mathis; three stepchildren, Herman, Devonna and Stacy; two granddaughters, Nikima and Reagan. A Special Cousin, Mable and a host of Family and Friends. A memorial service will be held at Forsyth Park on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 6 to 7pm.
