Mr. Harry N. Richardson 87 passed away Friday, March 4 th , 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Pruitt Hospice. Mr. Harry N. Richardson was born June 7th, 1934, on Anderson Street in Savannah, Georgia to the Late Benjamin Thaddeus Richardson & Evelyn Brown-Richardson. Harry grew up in Savannah, Georgia and attended the public schools of Chatham County. At an Early age he joined Litway Missionary Baptist Church and served as an usher until his health decline. He was a proud graduate of Alfred Ely Beach High School class of 1952. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957. After serving his country, he attended Savannah State College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1961. Harry continued to purse higher education, and moved to New York, where his family, Edward, and Henrietta Martin gladly, welcomed him into their home. He began his career in Harlem Hospital, Laboratory Department, and continued to pursue higher education, and completed his Master of Business Administration Degree, from, Long Island University in New York. Harry continued to work in the healthcare industry until his health declined. Harry married Evelyn Mae Perkins-Richardson in New York, on February 2nd, 1963. They were happily married for 59 years. This union was blessed with a son Gary Jerome Richardson. Harry was a member of the National Usher Association. Harry loved to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the ministry of ushering. Harry and his wife Evelyn began traveling across the United States implementing usher ministries in temples of faith. This gift began in New York where he began with the AME and Baptist affiliations of faith. Harry received many awards for his gift of ushering. His proudest moment was when he was named “Usher of the Year.” He also served as President of the Savannah Usher Association. Harry was known in many houses of worships, for his famous Usher marching abilities. Harry received many awards and accomplishments, his proudest awards were as follows: 1989 Humanitarian Award from The Methodist Men of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Harlem Hospital Center Dedication Award for 25 years of service, The Assistant Secretary for Health Certificate of Commendation for honorary letters of doctor for his extensive research in finding a cure for AIDS. Harry loved to read, travel, and build relationships one person at a time. He was proceeded in death by his parents Benjamin Thaddeus and Evelyn Richardson, his brothers, James Richardson, Benjamin Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Samuel Richardson, and John Richardson. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Mae Perkins-Richardson of Savannah, Georgia, and his son, Gary Jerome Richardson, of Savannah, Georgia, and a sister Ms. Evelyn Richardson of Savannah, Georgia. God-Sons Kevin Williams and Devin Williams. His God-Daughter Crystal Perez. A special caretaker, Mrs. Patrice Doyle. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date
