Pastor Johnny Groover Sr.

Rev. Johnny Groover Sr., 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Memorial Health U.M.C.
He was a native of Stilson, Georgia, but later moved to Savannah, GA. Pastor Groover retired from Firestone Tire Company after 30 years of service. He was the Pastor of New Covenant Holiness Church for twenty four years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny W. Groover Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: loving wife, Ruby Groover; three sons, Robert A. Groover, NY, Jaimie W. Groover (Monifa), and Richard A. Groover (Kiersten), Norfolk, VA; four daughters, Angela Groover, NY, Annie Mae Groover Maillard, NJ, Latoya Groover, Savannah, GA and Latasha Groover, NY; four sisters, Bertha Dubois, VA, Sara Hill (Floyd), VA, Joann Woodley (Leroy), VA and Daisy Bell Jones, FL; four brothers, Tom Groover, Brooklyn, NY, Paul Groover (Martha), NY, Clarence Groover (Nettie), Maryland, and Homer Groover (Marion), NY; fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services for Pastor Johnny W. Groover Sr. will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 1008 East Henry Street. Interment: Cone Cemetery, Stilson, GA. Reposing at the church Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 9:00 am until hour of service.
